There are already so many global companies #SmartWorking around the world so we’ve put together a list of just a few for you and what they, and their employees have to say about it!

#SmartWorking practices are taking place in companies around the world. From tech, communications, education and health, all industries are being influenced. Whether it is to avoid the commute, escape chaotic lifestyles of big cities or to appeal to better work-life balance, companies are rethinking their people management to fit new demands. However, this new style of working not only benefits employees, it also has huge cost saving implications to companies in terms of employee sick days, office space, mental health, employee travel expenses and much more. The benefits to both employees and employers are simply undeniable.

Below is a list of 7 global companies that are already adapting their culture to the #SmartWorking practice!

1. Dell

According to their website, the computing multinational Dell sees workplace flexibility as a business strategy that enables them to compete for the best talent. Among the company’s benefits are health plans, training and mentoring opportunities.
Dell employees say:

Great flexibility to WFH and manage your errands and those doctor’s office visits, especially if you have family.” —Former Senior Software Quality Engineer

2. Apple

One of the biggest companies in the world, Apple connects remote working to work-life balance and human connection. They also consider #SmartWorking a skill, as it takes confidence, discipline and self-motivation to be successful in remote working. Some of the jobs roles include Home Advisor, Home Team Manager, Home Area Manager, Foreign Language Speakers, Home AppleCare Partner Relations Advisor and At-Home RCC Chat Sales Specialist.

According to Apple:

You’ll need a quiet, distraction-free workspace with a door you can shut, an ergonomic chair, a desk for the iMac (and headset) we’ll provide, and your own network connection. Working from home isn’t for everyone, but if you’re confident, disciplined, and self-motivated, home can be a place where work and life don’t clash — they collaborate.”

3- Amazon

Amazon gets the #SmartWorking concept as a business strategy to expand knowledge and networking. Their specified remote positions connect Amazon to qualified workers that don’t live near their physical offices. Unfortunately, the remote roles are not available to every department in Amazon, but the possibility is open to be discussed with Amazon recruiters.

Amazon employees have this to say:

Work from home (so many pros to that); Supervisors are encouraging and helpful; Training is a good experience; You are encouraged to take your breaks and lunches even if you missed your allotted times because of a call; The customers are mostly wonderful, easy to navigate and manage your schedule, time off, shift swaps, etc. There is a lot of opportunity to move up!”

4. Accenture

The Irish consulting Accenture values work-life balance and offers options of flexible work arrangements to meet their business demands. Flexible time schedules, part-time arrangements, job-sharing arrangements, telecommuting/home working, fly-backs to home, and client-site work arrangements are part of their initiatives. It is also part of their policy to provide communication and collaboration tools to help increase employers productivity, efficiency and flexibility.
